Tennessee Planning Committee
on Off-Highway Vehicles

The State of Tennessee has formed a committee to evaluate the use, impact, and availability of off-highway vehicle (OHV) recreation in Tennessee. OHVs are motorized recreational vehicles designed for off-highway use. The types of vehicles include, but are not necessarily limited to, all terrain
vehicles (ATVs – generally 4-wheeled), motorcycles (dirt bikes), Jeeps and four wheel drive pickups (4 x 4s), and dune buggies (also referred to as rail buggies).

The increasing use of OHVs, the reduction in suitable areas for OHV activity, and growing environmental concerns all suggest the need to develop a managed OHV program in Tennessee. It is apparent from the experiences of other states that a managed program not only helps to satisfy the
recreational desires of the OHV population, but also provides for proper environmental management. Studies in other states further suggest that there is a great possibility for positive economic impact with the development of an OHV program.

Broken link to the official TN site (had Public Comments or Suggestions link) that is down. I have not been able to find out any further information about this committee.
